Fiola & Breed – 80’s Flatland

December 8th, 2008 Posted in BMX, Biking, Flatland, Old School

Another great find from Robust Flavor!

Robust Flavor is pleased to feature BMX legend Eddie Fiola and Dave Breed performing live in 1985 on the UK kid’s show ‘Wide Awake Club’. Eddie Fiola was the ultimate California freestyler whose approach to skateparks and tricks is still being talked about today.

Wheel covers and fork standers mounted to the seat tube!? Good lord! I give props to Dave Breed for doing crickets on the pedals, though.

Do Dave Breed’s pants say “Poof”?

I’m sure soccer hooligan parents got a kick out of that.

  3. David Says:

Those were the original GT forkstands that were never available for sale.

As for the wheel covers, I’m sure they were linked to sponsor contingencies and, hell, more power to them for making money doing what they loved.

The fork stand is mounted to the seat tube!!!!

Modern day flatlanders still suffer the stigma created by these boobs (or “poofs”, if you will).

Just playin’…I love the old schoolers. I am one, after all!

Looking back. All that was so gay. But hey, its our roots. Eddie still top my faves list of riders. I dont care what D. Ritter says about him.

  6. David Says:

It was no more “gayer” than 80s metal types. Remember – they were total trailblazers and back then got heckled for looking differently than others. Props to them.

and robust copied it from my posting on youtube. its from the uk morning programme ‘wacaday’- youtube stripped the music from it as it was the axel f theme – the original tv soundtrack not dubbed by me. loads of these copyright infringements happening now. took down loads of videos as its happened on facebook now. shame as all we want to do relive those moments of bmx…
